The prices range from $100 to around $800 for the premium models. The higher end models include voice recognition, live traffic updates, and Bluetooth connectivity. The primary drawback is that you have to set up a secure station for these portable units so they don't interfere with driving safety.

Some cellphones are capable of GPS navigation. Some carriers such as Sprint, At&T, and Verizon offer turn by turn navigation at extra charge. Unlike smart phones and PDA, these cellphones don't contain internal mapping software or access to POI (Point of Interest) database. This is due to small screen and memory capacity as well as speaker quality. Instead, they offer turn by turn voice navigation. Some Carriers offer other services that can track the cellphone via GPS service such as Family Locator by Sprint.
