Founded in 2002, Mio Technology is relative newcomer to consumer GPS market compared to other leading companies. Mio developed and released a first GPS integrated PDA in very tech savvy South Korea and Taiwan. Mio Technology operates in many Asian countries including China, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. They also operate out of Australia, New Zealand, US, and Europe. MIO is the third leading maker of personal navigation devices behind TomTom and Garmin.

Mio Technology has primarily turned into personal navigation device manufacturer. As with most other GPS manufacturer, Mio offers wide variety of GPS receivers from very basic to more feature laden models. The higher end models include text to speech, Bluetooth, and bigger touch screens.

Mio has just released GPS unit called Knight Rider. Inspired by the 1980s television series, the unit includes the voice of K.I.T.T. The model has K.I.T.T inspired design with red LED lights. It includes many features present on other Mio GPS units including Points of Interest and preloaded North America Map.
